1. Definitions

In these Terms and Conditions:

"We / Us / Our" refers to Linenroot, operated from No. 9-1, Lebuh Light, 10200 George Town, Penang, Malaysia.
"You / User" refers to any individual who accesses our website or books a place on one of our programmes.
"Programme" refers to any of our facilitation offerings: the Intergenerational Conversation Workshop, the Family Letter-Writing Series, or the Family Conversation Retreat.
"Agreement" refers to these Terms and Conditions together with any booking confirmation we provide.
"Materials" refers to workbooks, prompt card sets, and any written resources provided to participants.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By submitting an enquiry or completing a booking, you confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms. You also confirm that you are aged 18 or over and have the legal capacity to enter into an agreement.

3. Description of Services

Linenroot offers facilitated family communication programmes. These are educational and reflective in nature. They are not counselling, therapy, legal advice, or financial advice of any kind. All programmes are conducted in English unless otherwise agreed in advance.

Programmes are available to residents of Malaysia and to visitors. For retreats and series, availability is subject to scheduling and advance booking.

4. Booking and Payment

All prices are stated in Malaysian Ringgit (RM) and include materials.
A 50% deposit is required to confirm a booking. The remaining balance is due no later than 7 days before the first session.
Payment is accepted by bank transfer. Details are provided upon booking confirmation.
Bookings are confirmed only upon receipt of the deposit and written confirmation from us.

5. Cancellation and Refund Policy

Cancellation by you, more than 14 days before the session: Full deposit refund, less a RM 50 administrative fee.
Cancellation by you, 7–14 days before the session: 50% of the deposit is refunded. The balance payment (if made) is refunded in full.
Cancellation by you, fewer than 7 days before the session: No refund of the deposit. Balance payment (if made) is refunded in full.
Cancellation by us: If we cancel a session, a full refund of all amounts paid is provided, or you may transfer to an alternative date.
Retreat cancellations follow the same policy, calculated from the first day of the retreat.

6. Participant Responsibilities

By attending a programme, you agree to:

Engage respectfully with the facilitator and other participants
Not record sessions in any format without prior written consent from Linenroot
Not reproduce or distribute our materials without permission
Inform us in advance if any participant has accessibility requirements

We reserve the right to remove any participant from a session if their conduct is disruptive or disrespectful. In such cases, no refund is provided.

7. Intellectual Property

All programme materials — including workbooks, prompt card sets, and session structures — are the intellectual property of Linenroot. You may use materials for personal, non-commercial purposes. Reproduction, redistribution, or commercial use of any materials without written permission is not permitted.

Written content produced by participants during sessions belongs to the participant. We do not claim any rights over personal writing produced in our sessions.

8. Programme Scope and Limitations

Our programmes are facilitative and educational. They are not a substitute for professional counselling, psychological support, legal advice, or financial guidance. We do not represent that participation will resolve family disputes, produce specific behavioural outcomes, or provide therapeutic benefit.

The facilitator's role is to support the process of conversation. They do not advise on personal decisions.

9. Disclaimers

Our services are provided in good faith and with reasonable care. We do not warrant that any specific outcome will result from participation. Family communication involves factors outside our control, and we make no representations about results.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Malaysian law, Linenroot's liability for any claim arising from these Terms or from participation in a programme is limited to the amount paid for that programme. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special damages of any kind.

Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded under Malaysian law.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify Linenroot against any claim, loss, or expense arising from your breach of these Terms or your conduct during a programme.

12. Termination

Either party may terminate a booking by written notice. Our cancellation and refund policy applies. We may terminate a booking immediately if you have breached these Terms. Clauses relating to intellectual property, liability, and dispute resolution survive termination.

13. Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute arising from these Terms shall first be referred to informal negotiation. If unresolved after 30 days, disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Penang, Malaysia.

14. General Provisions

Entire agreement: These Terms, together with any booking confirmation, constitute the full agreement between us.
Severability: If any clause is found unenforceable, the remaining clauses remain in effect.
Waiver: Failure to enforce any provision does not constitute a waiver of future enforcement.
Assignment: You may not transfer your booking to another party without our written consent.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Updated Terms will be published on this page with a revised date. Your continued use of our website or booking of a programme after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
