Our Programmes

Three facilitative formats — each designed around different household needs, pacing preferences, and family compositions.

Three guided sessions supporting participants through the practice of writing letters to family members on subjects often left unspoken — gratitude, accumulated questions, or shared history. The writing is private; it is never read aloud unless the writer chooses. Reflective rather than counselling.

Why Families Choose Linenroot

A few things that distinguish how we work from other facilitation services.

Structured, Not Scripted

Prompt cards and session structures give conversations shape without forcing a particular outcome. Families move at their own pace.

No Advice, No Pressure

Our facilitators are not counsellors. We do not give legal, financial, or medical guidance. The space is educational and reflective only.

Multigenerational Design

Sessions are built for mixed-age groups — adult children, parents, grandparents — not a single demographic.

Rooted in Penang

We operate from George Town and understand the mix of cultural backgrounds and family structures common to Malaysian households.

Private by Default

Writing sessions are private. Nothing produced in a session is shared beyond the participant unless they choose otherwise.

Materials with Care

Workbooks, prompt cards, and writing materials are selected for quality and tactility — part of creating an unhurried atmosphere.

Common Questions

A few things families often ask before joining a programme.

Who are these workshops for?

The workshops are for adults — adult children, parents, and grandparents who want to have structured conversations together. There is no upper or lower age limit for adults. Sessions are not suitable for children under 18.

Is this counselling or therapy?

No. Linenroot programmes are educational and facilitative. Our facilitators guide conversations using structured prompts but do not provide therapeutic, legal, or financial advice. If you are looking for clinical support, we recommend speaking with a registered professional.

Do all family members need to attend together?

For the Intergenerational Conversation Workshop and the Family Conversation Retreat, yes — the value comes from multiple generations being present. The Letter-Writing Series can be attended by one or more family members independently.

Where do sessions take place?

The Conversation Workshop and Letter-Writing Series are held at our George Town studio, No. 9-1, Lebuh Light. The Family Conversation Retreat is off-site; we will share venue details following the planning call.

What languages are sessions conducted in?

Sessions are conducted in English. If your household communicates primarily in Bahasa Malaysia or another language, please mention this when enquiring so we can discuss the best options.

How do I pay, and is a deposit required?

Payment is in Malaysian Ringgit. We accept bank transfer. A 50% deposit is required to confirm your place, with the balance due before the first session. Full details are provided upon enquiry.
