What Makes Linenroot
Worth the Afternoon
The case for structured family conversation — and why the format, materials, and facilitation approach here are worth choosing carefully.
Back to HomeSix Reasons Families Come Back
These are the things participants most commonly mention when describing what they found useful about a Linenroot programme.
Prompts That Work
The prompt cards are developed specifically for household conversations — not adapted from corporate team-building exercises. They open questions that families actually need to discuss.
Designed for Mixed Ages
Most facilitation programmes target a single generation. Linenroot formats are built for households where grandparents, parents, and adult children are in the room together.
Nothing Leaves the Room
Sessions are not recorded. Writing is not shared. The facilitator holds the structure — not the content of what participants say or write.
Malaysian Context
The team understands the mix of languages, cultural backgrounds, and intergenerational expectations that shape Malaysian household life. The approach is not imported wholesale from elsewhere.
Three Distinct Formats
A single workshop, a three-session letter-writing series, and a two-day family retreat each serve different household situations and levels of readiness. There is no one-size approach.
A Space That Supports the Work
The George Town studio is chosen for its quiet atmosphere. Materials are tactile and carefully selected. The physical setting is part of what makes the sessions feel different from ordinary family occasions.
A Closer Look
Facilitation Experience
The Linenroot team has over seven years of combined experience in facilitated group conversation, including community practice in Penang, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore. The methods are drawn from community conversation practice — not from therapy, coaching, or corporate workshops. That distinction shapes how sessions are run and what they can reasonably expect to achieve.
Iterative Programme Design
Each programme format has been developed over multiple iterations. Prompt cards are tested, refined, and revised based on written feedback from participants. The current versions reflect what has worked consistently across diverse household compositions — not what seemed good on paper.
Responsive to Each Household
For the retreat format, a planning call is arranged before the session to understand the family's composition, the topics they want to cover, and any sensitivities to be aware of. The agenda is prepared around those inputs. Workshop and series formats also begin with a brief intake process so the facilitator can calibrate the pace and tone.
Transparent Pricing
All three formats are listed with fixed prices in Malaysian Ringgit. The workshop is RM 490, the letter-writing series is RM 880, and the retreat is RM 2,440 for a group of up to eight adults. There are no add-on costs beyond the listed price — materials, planning calls, and follow-up prompt sets are included.

What You Will Not Find Elsewhere
Proprietary Prompt Card Sets
The prompt sequences used in workshops and series are developed and owned by Linenroot. They are not sourced from standard facilitation toolkits. Participants keep a printed set after each programme.
Custom Retreat Agendas
The Family Conversation Retreat is built around a planning call with the household lead. No two retreats follow the same schedule. The agenda is prepared for that specific family group.
A Letter-Writing Format That Stays Private
The letter-writing series is reflective, not performative. Nothing is read aloud unless the writer chooses. This makes the format accessible to people who find group conversation difficult.
A Physical Studio in George Town
Workshops take place in a dedicated, unhurried space — not a hotel meeting room or a rented community hall. The setting is part of the offering.
